Do You Have Any Questions?
Please read questions below and if you can not find your answer, please send us your question, we will answer you as soon as possible.
What does a podiatrist do?
A podiatrist is a medical specialist who diagnoses and treats conditions of the feet, ankles, and lower legs. This includes problems like heel pain, bunions, ingrown toenails, sports injuries, diabetic foot issues, and general foot care.
Do I need a referral to see a podiatrist?
No referral is needed to book a consultation at Footman Podiatry. We are always happy, however, to liaise with your GP and other healthcare professionals should it be appropriate.
What is the difference between a Podiatrist and a Chiropodist?
Podiatrists and chiropodists are technically the same thing; any properly registered Podiatrist can legally refer to themselves as either term. Regardless of title, when looking for foot treatment, we would always recommend ensuring your clinician is registered with the HCPC (Health Care Professionals Council), as this ensures they are properly registered to practice.
What should I bring to my appointment?
- A list of your current medications
- Relevant medical reports or imaging (X-rays, MRIs, ultrasounds)
- Your usual footwear (work, sports, or everyday shoes)
Do you treat children?
Yes. We see children for any foot and ankle issue. All of our clinicians are DBS checked to treat adults and children.
I have diabetes. How often should I see a podiatrist?
People with diabetes should have at least an annual foot assessment, or more often if they have nerve damage, circulation problems, ulcers, or a history of foot complications. Regular check-ups help prevent serious problems, including ulcers and amputations.
How long is an appointment?
Appointment times depend on the type of appointment, and the treatment required. This can vary depending on clinical need.
Do you accept insurance?
We are happy to provide treatment to people with insurance, though we expect you to pay for your treatment in full, after-which we will provide you with an official paid invoice containing the relevant information required for you to claim this fee back from your insurance provider.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
We understand that sometimes life gets in the way, and appointments have to be rescheduled. We do, however, request that you give us at least 24 hours notice to cancel an appointment. If needed, we recommend cancelling directly via phone on 01283 895298 (our 24/7 AI receptionist Archie will be on-hand to assist you), by emailing info@footmanuk.co.uk, or by following the cancellation link on your appointment confirmation email. Should you cancel your appointment within 24hrs of the appointment time, or should you not attend, full payment will still be due and you will be invoiced accordingly.
What happens if I don't attend my appointment?
Should you not attend your scheduled appointment with no notification at least 24hrs prior, full payment will still be due and you will be invoiced accordingly.
Is there local parking available?
Yes, there is ample free parking within walking distance of the clinic (90 minutes maximum stay).
Do you take all payment types?
We accept payment in cash, or by card payment. We are unable to accept cheques or bank transfers.
How much will I be charged?
We are completely transparent about what we charge for each treatment in the clinic, and take pride in our competitive but fair pricing. Following a discussion with one of our Podiatrists, we will advise on the cost of any proposed treatment if greater than what was booked in for.
Do you offer discounts to NHS patients, OAPs or children?
We are very proud of our pricing here at Footman Podiatry, and feel that whilst it is competitive, it also offers excellent value for money. Regardless of age or any other demographic, our pricing remains the same for all patients based purely on the treatment they are receiving.

My first foot care experiment with Barney and it turned out to be a game changer! A very easy process to book appointments, a very welcoming staff in a clean and clinical environment and all local to me. Barney was very approachable and clearly explained the issues, possible solutions and any ongoing treatment that might help. After that Barney worked on a thorough pedicure. It left me feeling this was going to be the way forward. After continuing suggested treatments at home I will certainly be back again. Would highly recommend Barney and Footman Podiatry to anyone considering help with their feet.Posted on Google Pauline HuntTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a very sore toe and made an appointment with Barney who was very thorough checking it, it was an ingrowing toe nail. Barney treated it and then gave my feet a health check as I am a diabetic all fine. A couple of days later my toe seemed red and I left a message, Steve phoned me to say he would look at it straight away, all is well, just healing. Steve said Barney will phone me in a couple of weeks to just check. Brilliant first class service from them both, thank you.
